What I ate:
HQ Sampler ( Fried Pickles, Chicken Crackling, Crab Hushpuppies, Deviled Eggs, Pimento Dip)
Smokehouse Roasted Salmon with Succotash
Strawberry Fields Forever (strawberry lemonade)
This place is so cute and cozy. I love the rustic feeling and all the cute signs they have up. The lighting is pretty cool too. My server was Kelvin and he was so nice. He gave some great suggestions on the meal choices and he even asked about my allergies. He checked on our table often to make sure we were ok.
Let’s talk about the food. Boy! They really give you large portions so make sure you’re hungry when you go there. You guys know I love bread so I had to try the biscuits. They were like country biscuits, very fluffy!
That HQ sampler was a great way for me to taste a lot of things I saw on the menu. It came with Fried Pickles, Chicken Crackling, Crab Hushpuppies, Deviled Eggs, and Pimento Dip. The fried pickles were sour, tangy and crunchy. They were actually really good and the outside seemed cheesy, so they reminded me of mozzarella sticks. The chicken crackling was crunchy and juicy and that sauce you dip it in was sweet. I loved it!
The crab hushpuppies were crunchy and savory, but a little sweet and they had a lot of crab inside them. I’m not the biggest egg fan unless they’re boiled, so I had to try these. The filling was creamy with a spicy aftertaste and the egg was cooked perfectly. The bacon on top was a tiny bit tough. The dip was cheesy, but spicy. By the way, I still don’t think I know what Pimento is.
My meal was huge! The salmon was smoky and tender. I really liked it. My mom told me what succotash was and this was a little more advanced than what she said. This succotash was spicy and blended well with all the things they have in it. There was quinoa, sweet corn, lima beans and it even had spinach. I think it may have been just a little bit more salty than I like, but I will say this was the first time I ever liked lima beans.
My drink was awesome! I always get lemonade at most restaurants. This had chunks of strawberries in it. It was sooo good!
I definitely left with enough leftovers for lunch the next day. I’m glad I was able to visit this place. People are starting to notice me. I got to meet the chef personally and some of the managers. They were so nice. I also have to share; the management did pay for my meal when we were done.
For a treat, they gave me some fried Twinkies to take home for dessert. It was my first time trying them, they were sweet, but good.
How did they measure up?
