Welcome Chef Rem!

Remus is a New York native with a Southern upbringing. With Caribbean and Spanish roots, Remus spent much of his early childhood in the kitchen watching the women of his family cook.

In 2005 Remus was accepted into the Rochester Institute of Technology and studied Mechanical Engineering. While working as a cook on campus, Remus realized his passion for food and cooking. He continued his studies at Georgia State University studying in Managerial Sciences. Remus expanded his culinary knowledge by accepting an internship in Sao Paulo, Brazil where he worked and traveled extensively through Brazil learning about the culture, the local food and various cooking techniques.


Remus returned to New York where he achieved a variety of roles at Peaches’ HotHouse in Brooklyn, Tavern on the Green in Central Park and The Standard Hotel.

What’s your best creation?

A crab cake benedict over a charred corn salad with tabasco aioli, DE-LI-CIOUS!!


What's your worst kitchen disaster?

When I burned down my kitchen in college. It's actually how I began my career as a chef.


What’s your go to comfort meal?

My favorite comfort meal is shrimp and grits!


What type cuisine do you cook?

My go-to's are South Asian, Caribbean and Mediterranean. Anything that combines seafood and fruit simply calls to me.


What might surprise people about you?

I can't bake.... Like AT ALL!!! Just not my forte.
